In Issue 3 of Bangla Couple, Anika and Zayan's routine market trip turns into a full-blown olfactory catastrophe. While Zayan is already exhausted from carrying half the bazar, Anika's nose leads her straight to a shutki stall — and she's absolutely delighted. To her, the pungent smell of perfectly aged dried fish is pure heaven. To Zayan, it's a direct distress signal from the underworld.
Anika proudly holds up her prized catch while Zayan covers his face and wrestles with an existential dilemma: "If I breathe, I die. If I don't breathe, I die." His nose, he announces, has already resigned from its duties. Anika, completely unbothered, assures him it'll taste amazing with steamed rice.
The ride home is where things truly escalate. Perched in a rickshaw with the shutki held high, the couple parts the streets of Dhaka like a very smelly Moses — pedestrians flee, bystanders grimace, and even the rickshaw puller looks like he's reconsidering his career choices. Zayan declares they are no longer a couple but a "hazardous waste transport." Anika just smiles and promises him three plates of rice. She knows she'll win.
